    1500 – 19th century

The Bad Schörgau was first referenced in a document dating back to 1533 and, in 1689, it was first described as a farmers’ spa with bathing parlour, healing springs and a restaurant. In the 18th century, the Bad Schörgau established itself as a popular health and healing centre. In 1846, the original buildings were destroyed by a storm.

    Early 20th century

The reconstruction of the Bad Schörgau commenced in 1897 with 20 beds and 10 tub niches. The healing springs and farmers’ spa proved to be extremely popular with the local people. After the Second World War and in the post-war years, life became particularly quiet around the Bad Schörgau.

    1975 – 2002

Rosi and Sepp Wenter leased the Bad Schörgau and went on to purchase it in 1986. In the decades to follow, they carried out extensive renovations on the main building and the farmers’ spa. The wooden hotel was constructed, the historic bathhouse was converted into the Seppl-Stodl hay barn, and the gourmet restaurant went on to become a venue for connoisseurs. After the sudden death of Sepp Wenter in 2002, his son Gregor took over the management of the Bad Schörgau together with his mother Rosi and sisters Sabine and Steffi.

Like a protective horseshoe, the Sarntal Alps encircle the Santal Valley, which extends out from Bolzano to the northern reaches of South Tyrol. A quiet, secluded spot, just a few minutes away from the regional capital.
